Every journey begins with a single step...or whatever.

I'm a Phillies fan. Since I'm a Phillies fan, I'm signed up to receive emails from them. Since the baseball season ended in October, and I'm forced to go without actually watching baseball for awhile, I gobble up whatever baseball news I receive and make sure I get all the crumbs too (Cliff Lee put me in a food coma for days).

So last night, I got an email from the Phillies with a big picture of Domonic Brown on it. Next to Mr. Brown, there's a smallish picture with an icon of a little dude running. Below that, the four aces (!!!) are pushing tickets. Naturally, I read the article about Brown (I think he's ready anyway) and considered buying a six game ticket plan. I scoured the email for any last crumbs. Then I was like "what's this? A little dude running?" and decided to check that out.

P.S. The email looks sorta like this screen shot.

In a moment of insanity, I registered for it.

Just kidding about the insanity.

I realized that the best way to motivate myself to exercise was to set a goal and actually put a concrete date on it. That date is March 26, 2011 at 9 AM in Philadelphia. I just learned that the race has sold out, but here's some info anyway. Good thing (?) I registered last night.

Anyway, I'm attempting to go from a slightly overweight (my BMI is 25.2; 25 is considered overweight) couch potato to running a 3-mile race in a little under three months. From the websites I've been looking at, it seems doable. I'll be using this blog to track my progress.
